The mission of intercollegiate athletics at Fort Valley State University is to provide experiences for scholar athletes that will advance the University's general mission. We seek to provide diversified and challenging programs to meet educational needs resulting from societal changes and to provide learning and living environments that enable our graduates to become innovative and critical thinkers, problem solvers, and responsible citizens.
The committment to academic success of scholar athletes at FVSU is reflected in achieving expectations that exceed those of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the reinforcement of these expectations through a rigorous program of academic monitoring that includes counseling, supervised study halls, progress reports and communication with parents and guardians.
The mission of Fort Valley State University's intercollegiate athletic programs reflects the committment of the University, as an 1890 land-grant institution,
to excellence in public service, continuing education, and technical assistance and to developing activities in these areas such as sports clinics, coaching seminars, best practices in sports medicine and Special Olympics that are responsive to the needs of the Middle Georgia Region and the State of Georgia.
